There are 4 main product categories in the Free From Living Awards, and several special categories too:
1/ Pet Care
Grooming and non-food care products to help look after your cat, dog, or other treasured pet, including fur shampoos, paw balms, dog soaps, flea care, and pet deodorisers.
2/ Home Ambience
Products for an ambient, warming, or fragrant home atmosphere, including but not limited to natural air fresheners, room sprays, ambient aromatherapy, candles, reed diffusers, soya / wax melts, kitchen deodorisers, pillow sprays, and linen sprays.
3/ Home Care & Cleaning
Household cleaning and sundry consumables for in and around the home, including but not limited to laundry detergent, laundry sheets, fabric softener, kitchen detergents, bathroom cleaners, carpet freshener, furniture polishes and waxes, disinfectants, glass / window sprays, and car cleaning products.
4/ Personal Health and Wellbeing
Topical consumable products to help look after your everyday health and wellbeing:
a/ Summer Care — sun care, after sun care, insect protection, after-bite care
b/ Oral Health — toothpaste, dental tablets, mouth rinse, mouth wash
c/ Physical Wellbeing — muscle care, massage oils, joint care, exercise care (products for chaffing, friction), hand sanitiser, hay fever balms, magnesium products, CBD products …
d/ Emotional Wellbeing — personal aromatherapy / fragrance, sleep balms, calming balms
Special Categories
* The Free From Achievement Award
Brands may enter this additional Special Achievement Award with any product submitted in any of the categories 1–4 above. The Award celebrates products with particularly strong free from or ‘hypoallergenic’ qualities — which are perhaps very low in or free from preservatives, food allergens and fragrances — or which meet a particular lifestyle, home-care or wellbeing need for highly sensitive or allergic consumers, or those who have to avoid multiple ingredients.
* The Innovation Award
This is the first year of our Innovation Award. Innovation can take many forms, be it for an individual product — such as innovative use of one or more unusual ingredients, innovation in packaging and delivery format, innovation in communication of key information — or it can apply to a whole brand — such as innovation in marketing, policy, ethos, sustainability, or anything else. What are you doing that few others, if anybody, is doing? Surprise our judges! They will be looking for brand or product innovation of all kinds.
* The Best Brand Award
Brands entering this Award will be judged on many qualities — their brand ethos, the breadth of products, ‘free from’ qualities, web and social media presence, performance of submitted products, eco / green / sustainability attributes, and any others applicable to the whole brand.
* Best Overall Free From Skincare Product
The overall ‘winner of winners’ and champion of the Free From Living Awards 2025 will be chosen from the Gold winners of the product categories (1–4) above.
